This course looks at the David & Lucile Packard Foundation, a 49,000-square-foot net zero energy office building completed in 2012 in Los Altos, California, that obtained a LEED platinum rating. The course explains the key design goals and strategies needed to achieve a net zero energy building, how to assess actual performance and improve building performance. Lessons learned for future projects designs are also covered.
- Explain the key design goals and strategies needed to achieve a net zero energy building
- Describe a post-occupancy phase plan for projects that will support the goal of achieving net zero energy use
- Refer to lessons learned in operation to design decisions to improve future project designs
- Discuss monitored energy results to assess actual performance matches, predicted outcomes, and identify ways to improve building performance
