This course looks at what we mean by makers and micro-manufacturers and why this group is so important. Social, economic, environmental all impact the makers of sustainable best practices for the makers. This course looks at what we can learn from the Etsy Brooklyn HQ for designers and makers on projects of scale and how you can get involved.

  • Analyze the growing maker movement and its potential to realign purchasing decisions with local, social, economic and environmental impact.
  • Outline the strict material requirements within the Living Building Challenge and how the align with the new materials credits in LEED V4.
  • Assess the feasibility of using local makers to meet LEED v4 and Living Building Materials Requirements in your next green building project.
  • Implement a health materials programs through the new Materials Ingredients Disclosure and Optimization Credit or the Living Building Challenge Red List in your next commercial office space.
