Design teams must integrate building systems to create a high performance building that also enhances the health and wellbeing of occupants. This course will explore how to achieve optimal acoustic performance in wood building systems with proper design of walls and floors/ceilings.
The course will examine acoustical codes, integrating acoustics into sustainable design, construction detailing and case studies where acoustics were prioritized to optimize indoor environmental quality.
- Examine factors affecting acoustic performance and review building types where optimal acoustics are important for occupant comfort
- Understand acoustical codes and standards and how acoustics are incorporated into green rating systems, including LEED v4 and the California Green Building Standards Code
- Identify how wood building systems can help meet acoustic requirements for optimal indoor environmental quality
- Review case studies where integrating acoustic design, as well as numerous other sustainable features, was a high priority
