Healthy lighting is a lifestyle for our expert panelists, but we do not all agree on the benefits being publicly expressed. With questions remaining in circadian lighting research and development, the design community is left wondering what we should do. Our panelists debate next steps.

Learning Objectives

  • Participants will leave with an understanding of the current state of research and design applications for circadian lighting and the benefits for the occupants.
  • Participants will be exposed to a debate that examines both common ground and major differences between the scientific approach/study and grounded design application of circadian lighting.
  • Participants will understand the current luminaire and controls manufacturing environment and how manufacturers are challenged to develop products for an industry and end user where the technology is moving faster than the science.
  • Participants will learn what disclosures are recommended to increase trust amongst specifiers, designers, and building owners.
