Contributing to Sustainable Design with Solid and Quartz Surfaces

There is an increasing awareness of the impact of buildings on the environment and the need to drive innovation and design to create higher performing living spaces. Individuals and the community in general must take a leadership role in demanding and/or creating solutions that reduce or eliminate the environmental footprint on our planet.

High performance buildings are designed to make an efficient use of natural resources, lessen and control environmental loadings, and improve the indoor environment by choosing the right materials that will enhance comfort and indoor air quality while proving to be designed with the environment in mind.

Solid surfacing and quartz materials provide functionality, performance, and aesthetics that enhance buildings and homes.

Weather barriers are a must with exterior foam sheathing

There are several issues with the use of foam sheathing as a water resistive barrier (WRB) and air barrier - even though there are standards that if passed allow it to qualify as a WRB. Issues such as dimensional instability and poor water management that are intrinsic with foam products can be remedied by using a wrap product as the water resistive barrier and to provide continuity at air barrier details. Find out more.
