This CEU will connect designers with the ways in which surface materials can help them respond to and reinforce hospitality trends through design, durability, and availability.

We will explore trends impacting the hospitality industry, the performance attributes and applications of various surface materials, and how these materials can be used to improve design in high-trend hospitality spaces.

Learning Objectives

  • Recognize trends driving hospitality design that impact the health and well-being of the guest experience including specifying surfaces to improve cleanliness and hygiene and designing active wellness areas such as gyms, tracks, or pools.
  • Examine how specifying materials, such as low VOC products, anti-microbial surfaces, and fire rated laminate, will limit or prevent accidental exposure to hazardous environmental elements.
  • Analyze surface materials, such as high performance laminate and compact laminate, that are environmentally conscious and create a space that is both aesthetically pleasing and sustainable.
  • Explore the use of surface materials, such as quartz, high performance laminate, and compact laminate, in designing high-trend spaces for hospitality.
